As an experimental sound and movement duo, ChiaChun Xu and Vir Torres explore the meeting point between Butoh and Flamenco through improvisation.

Torres’s movement language navigates the porous boundary between Butoh and Flamenco, tracing a shifting terrain where ritualized stillness, intensity, and rhythmic impulse intersect. Through improvisation, the body oscillates between grounded percussive presence and slow states of transformation.

Xu responds with no-input mixing board, producing a constantly evolving sonic field. In real time, vibration, gesture, and spatial resonance influence one another, forming a shared environment where movement and sound emerge together. The work operates as a process of mutual listening, exploring the thresholds between rhythm and silence, expanding dialogue between two distinct yet converging traditions.
